When God Says No

When I say “no,” far too often the assumption is made that I am mean or trying to keep you away from something you really want.  Then, much like little children, what typically follows is a strong desire to do the exact opposite.  If, for example, I were to say, “Don’t touch that.  It’s hot,” the immediate reaction would be to attempt to touch it as if by some vain effort you could prove me wrong.  Rebellion will always be part of the fallen nature of man.

Yet any assumption that does not point to My love for you is a lie!  In most situations I say no or close a certain door strictly for your protection.  I have so many advantages that you do not.  One is the fact that I can see the end from the beginning.  From this amazing vantage point, which is impossible for you to fully grasp, I know the best path to guide you along in order to get you where I want you to be.  This journey won’t always be safe or comfortable, but it is the best way.  I may prevent certain people from entering or leaving your life.  Or I may say no to a specific desire or question that has the potential to be disastrous for you and My plans.  I see the pain and hardship you may have to endure if you were to get your way.

In other circumstances I may say no simply because it’s not yet time.  People like to try and get ahead of My plans thinking they know better than Me.  This could potentially be damaging to not only you, but to others as well.  If you were to go ahead of Me, all of the sudden you find you were wrong, experience a setback and at times get frustrated with Me as if I didn’t warn you in the first place.  All this does is slow down the process and your growth for becoming who I created you to be.  But it’s OK – I still have the ability to make up for it.

Whatever it is you’re seeking to do or asking Me for may be the exact person, place or thing I have for you.  Yet you, that person, position or time simply may not be ready.  Preparation is always key.  And if you attempt to rush it, they may never be ready.  There may be times that I desire to send you out into the desert.  I want you to be ready for that day or trial or situation.  And only I may know whether or not you’re truly ready.  That is where trust comes in.  That lovely lady your heart desires may be the one, but her heart might not be ready until I’m finished preparing it.  You may have some desire to minister in a unique way, but I have to take you through a certain process in order to make you, and those you reach, ready to for the work I need done.  Be patient during this process.

Nevertheless, the choice is always yours.  You have free will to go whichever way you think is best.  Yet understand My heart; the way of trust and obedience is always the best way.  My ways are not restrictive (though it may feel that way).  Rather, they are freeing and protective.  I am always looking out for what’s best – not what may seem easiest or most enjoyable.
